In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month in the U.S., we’re featuring stories and perspectives of Hispanic employees.

First, we spoke with Dolca M., an Area Rental Manager in San Antonio who could list a million reasons why an individual should join the team at Enterprise.

Nearing the top of that list is her ability to share her authentic self at work, including connections built with her team through sharing her Hispanic heritage.

Describe your Enterprise career path.

I’ve been in the South Central region for the entirety of my career, including two relocations.

I started the journey as an intern and joined the team full-time after graduating college.

I moved up through Assistant and Branch Manager positions, including running a flagship Home City branch and one of Enterprise’s largest airport branches.

After four years with the company, I was promoted to Area Manager, and most recently, I was promoted to a larger location which includes Airport operations.

Is there someone at Enterprise who has supported or mentored you?

I’m grateful for the mentor mentality at Enterprise. My career has been heavily impacted by mentors who helped me achieve success quickly through discipline, accountability and sharing their own experiences. They have been right alongside me throughout my career to push me to the next level.

What does your Hispanic heritage mean to you and how do you celebrate this month?

My Hispanic heritage identifies who I am in my values and beliefs. We value family above everything and being present during all holidays and birthdays is a must! Time together is truly a treasure for us.

Every weekend my family likes to have a cook-out, what we have deemed having a “carne asada.” We cook fajita steaks, Mexican rice, potato salad, guacamole, jalapeño poppers and quesadillas while we listen to Mexican cumbias or corridos. As I have relocated within the region, I continue to host carne asadas at my home and enjoy welcoming folks to the tradition.

Speaking Spanish and celebrating traditions from my family’s country – Mexico – allows me to feel strongly connected to my heritage and better understand how life is celebrated within my ethnicity.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, I enjoy seeing how varying communities choose to spotlight heritage. I love participating in community events showcasing Hispanic food, dance, music and language. Mexican corridos – or stories told by song – are a favorite in my house.

Our company is truly an inclusive workplace where I can share my authentic self every day and connect to my team by sharing food and holiday traditions all year long – not only during Hispanic Heritage Month.

What would you tell a member of the Hispanic community interested in starting a career at Enterprise?

I could list a million reasons to join this team! Enterprise rewards all individuals willing to execute at a high level consistently and the path to any career is very clear from day one. If you step through an open door at Enterprise, you’ll find we promote an inclusive environment where opportunities are endless.
