Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Chase

Headshot of Chase, Enterprise Regional Vice President

Chase, Regional Vice President with Enterprise, is proud of his Hispanic heritage and grateful that he can share and pass family traditions on to his four young children. His paternal grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from Spain as young children. “When we chat with my grandmother on my dad’s side, I always have her share family stories and speak Spanish to my kids – it’s important to me that they understand our roots,” he said.

Read more about how Chase celebrates his Hispanic heritage and how it enables him to bring different perspectives to his role.

How do you celebrate your Hispanic Heritage Month?

My wife is also Hispanic and she’s a fantastic cook. She often makes dishes that we both used to have as kids such as posole, tamales, and empanadas. It brings back memories of having dinner with all of my extended family at my grandparents’ house as a kid. We would eat way too much food, then play outside all night long.

In what ways does your heritage allow you to bring a different perspective to your role and to Enterprise overall?

As leaders, we are always looking for different perspectives and diversity in thought. My heritage is just one of the ways that I can bring diversity to my role and the team. Diversity of thought makes us better and helps teams elevate their performance by promoting communication around individual viewpoints and creating a posture of thinking that’s beyond yourself. This is a big ingredient in the creation and execution of the plans we talk about every day. I have always sought out different perspectives for this reason.

How are you encouraged to bring your whole self to work?

The great thing about Enterprise is that from the top down, we are all encouraged to be the best version of ourselves every day. Throughout my career, I’ve had some absolutely amazing teammates, managers, and mentors who have helped push me to be the best Chase I can be. With this kind of support, I’ve been fortunate enough to have success, and more importantly, help those around me achieve high levels of success as well.

If someone wanted to learn more about Hispanic/Latinx heritage, what advice would you give them?

These days, a simple Google search will put a plethora of information at your fingertips. Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I’ll leave everyone with three pieces of advice.

  1. Build a strong network of mentors: Mentors are not only there to provide advice throughout your career, but they’ll also challenge you to perform better than you ever imagined.
  2. Perform: No matter who you are or where you’ve come from, performance opens up doors and can lead to promotion opportunities. Yes, there will be challenges along the way. Focus on what you can control in order to help you and your team be victorious.
  3. Be mobile: The more mobile you are, the more opportunities you’ll have. Nothing good ever comes of staying in your comfort zone. Enterprise provides amazing opportunities for us all across the globe― take full advantage!
