From Peru to Wisconsin: Nair’s Hispanic Heritage has Helped Shape Her Career

Young girl standing on a hill overlooking an ancient Peruvian historical site with stone ruins and surrounding mountains.

Nair C., who is a Branch Manager, discusses her Enterprise Mobility career journey that has been shaped by her determination, commitment, and a strong cultural identity. In this career blog, she shares her perspectives on Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM), her sources of inspiration, her favorite career advice, and her Peruvian cultural traditions.

What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the Hispanic contributions and achievements to this country. When I think of HHM, I also think of those who have taken a step out of their comfort zone to pave the way for a new generation of Latinos in our communities and corporate America. These are leaders who have taken the burden off our shoulders by dealing with inequality and unconscious bias and fought battles without us even knowing them. Without my community, I couldn't be the person I am today, and I thank them for their efforts and accomplishments.

Who from the Hispanic or Latino communities exemplifies a pioneering spirit?

Benito, known as "Bad Bunny", exemplifies a pioneering spirit for his recent achievements. His dedication to the Hispanic culture, Spanish language, and amplification of voices in our communities to create social and political change has earned him multiple historical accomplishments.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell my younger self: "Be kind to yourself; you are doing great. I am extremely proud of you. Thank you for never giving up on us."

Who has inspired you on your Enterprise Mobility journey and why?

Giannina C. is my colleague and has been my inspiration for being an excellent motivator and representing Latino women extremely well. Her extremely passionate character makes her who she is, and I will be forever grateful for her unwavering support and encouragement.

Do you have a favorite tradition as you celebrate your heritage?

In the village where I grew up in my home country (Peru), there is a celebration called "San Juan". The village praises a saint, and for this celebration, the entire family gathers and makes a typical dish called "Juane". This is a tradition that my family still carries, and I hope to continue this celebration for many years to come as a family tradition.

Each employee’s career journey is as unique as the perspectives and ambitions they’re encouraged to bring with them to their daily work. And they’re met along the way with unlimited possibilities and a support system to flourish, grow and advance.
