Enterprise Mobility, a leading provider of mobility solutions that manages the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo brands, is bringing thousands of vehicles to branches across the southeast to support relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.
In addition to increasing the available vehicles in the region to support customers who have suffered damage or loss of their personal cars, the business also provides thousands of vehicles to support first responders and the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA), as well as insurance adjusters, infrastructure repair crews and state emergency response officials who have traveled to help with recovery efforts in affected areas.
“Following a natural disaster, our main objectives are to prioritize those affected with replacement vehicles and ensure relief crews can provide the support these local communities need,” said Bridget Long, senior vice president of North American operations at Enterprise Mobility. “We are working closely with our collision repair and insurance partners as well as emergency responders, including FEMA the National Guard, and state officials to help disaster recovery efforts.”
Enterprise Mobility plays a strategic role in providing local transportation alternatives when natural disasters strike. With a U.S. fleet of more than a million cars and a branch within 15 miles of 90% of the U.S. population, the business can move thousands of rental cars and trucks where they are needed most to assist with recovery and clean-up efforts in critical areas.
“Reliable transportation plays a vital role in maintaining the health, welfare and safety of both disaster victims and relief teams following a significant weather event,” said Long.
Following Hurricane Helene, Enterprise Mobility activated its Mobile Emergency Response Vehicle (MERV) to support customers in Augusta, Ga., after the roof was blown off of an Enterprise Rent-A-Car neighborhood branch. Equipped with two workstations, three computers and a front counter, MERV operates as a portable, state-of-the-art branch office and can operate on a generator for more than 120 hours to support relief efforts even before local power is restored.
With several branches temporarily closed in the immediate aftermath of these storms, Enterprise Mobility team members have the ability to work from home or other operable locations with mobile tablets that enable them to process rental transactions from virtually anywhere until branches can safely reopen.
Even before disaster strikes, Enterprise collaborates with catastrophe teams including insurance and energy/power companies, the General Services Administration (GSA), the National Guard, and emergency response officials. Each regional Enterprise Mobility subsidiary has an emergency action plan to try to ensure its branch offices have the right number and types of vehicles available during disaster recovery.
The Enterprise Mobility Foundation has donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross, which will provide shelter, food, water and supplies for residents in the affected areas. This donation is in addition to the Enterprise Mobility Foundation’s annual $1 million gift to the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program made earlier this year.
